An introduction to The Dev Center!
by David Orr on Jan.22, 2010, under Music, News
Hello friends! Today I want to tell you about something I’ve been working hard on for the past couple of weeks – The Dev Center.
What is it? Let me fill you in:
“The Dev Center on DavidOrr.net provides developers with the professional audio – FOR FREE. All developers have a budget, and unfortunately that budget can limit your potential. It shouldn’t be that way – and the Dev Center is here to help.”
While The Dev Center (TDC) is geared towards multimedia developers, it is not limited only to them. Anyone has access to it and the plethora of audio it possesses. I haven’t done a total run-time tally, but we’re looking at more than enough music for a full length album. Most of it is never-before-heard on DavidOrr.net!
I’ll make another update when TDC is officially launched. I’m going to be pushing a pretty aggressive advertisement campaign to get the word out, so don’t hesistate to let your friends know!
Until then, here’s a preview of what’s available at The Dev Center!

Site Store lauched!
by David Orr on Jan.11, 2010, under Music, News, Store Updates
I thought that with a site redesign, it’d be a great time to introduce a feature I’ve been wanting to implement for a long time: a store! The store is launching with 5 pieces, which include 2 brand-new tracks. I’ve also lengthened one of the popular pieces from the original Sonny, Heroic Confrontation. You can hear clips of each piece, and if you like it- purchase the track via Paypal (a PayPal account isn’t necessary).
This is very much a test run, and I’ll see what kind of response I get to decide where to go from here. I’d absolutely love to hear your thoughts- they provide me with a lot of insight!
To access the store, you can click “Official Music Store” at the top-right side of the site, or click here! In addition, you can check for the latest updates without browsing the store by clicking on the “Store Updates” blog category. You’ll filter all the posts on the for the latest news from the shop!
Colony Soundtrack full release!
by David Orr on Dec.27, 2009, under Music, News
I’ve just uploaded the full version of the Colony soundtrack to my page on Newgrounds. It’s about 5:30 in length, with a lot of new and revised material in the mix. I’d love you to hear it!
Click here to listen on Newgrounds! If you like it, please vote for it- I greatly appreciate your support!
EDIT: I’ve added the full-length track to the site mp3 player (over on the right)- hope you enjoy it!
Puzzled
by David Orr on May.01, 2009, under Music, News
I’ve recently finished scoring the music to a short film Krin Juangbhanich has created. For those of you who don’t know Krin, he brought you such flash games as the Sinjid series and Sonny 1 & 2 (the latter two of which I had the privilege of writing the musical score for). The piece is titled “Puzzled”. A brief synopsis; An artist is at the park drawing various scenes, but he’s interrupted by a stranger looking for help with a crossword puzzle. You can only guess what happens!
As always, I’d love any feedback, especially constructive ideas!
Sonny music on Newgrounds!
by David Orr on Jul.18, 2008, under Music, News
For those you of you missed the newsletter with the Sonny music, I’ve got good news; you can now download Heroic Confrontation right off of Newgrounds! I’ll probably put up Duty Calls as well if this is received well, so then you’ll be able to download 2/3 of the battle music in Sonny to listen whenever you want.
Please listen, download, and show your support, as always it’s much appreciated! Also, for those of you who are curious, I have completely finished Heroic Confrotation for the album, so you’ll be able to purchase the full song once the album is released! That’s it for today, have a good one!
New Music!
by David Orr on Nov.28, 2007, under Music, News
Recently I’ve been working on several collaborations with various artists on the web (yes, I will make posts when the games and movies are finished to keep you updated). On the site mp3 player you will see a new piece entitled Duty Calls.
The piece is battle music for an upcoming role-playing game, designed by flash artist Krin (he is known for his well-received Sinjid series). I am designing both the battle music and the boss battle music, as well as will be managing the bulk of the sound effects. It looks like a promising release, aimed for early to mid December. I’ll keep you updated as progress is made!
-PURSUIT- Released!
by David Orr on Oct.26, 2006, under Music, News
Patrick Majewski (www.godlimations.com) and I have just finished our first collab, entitled PURSUIT. This is the sequel to his flash, TRAPPED. Both are extremely well done, and the final installment is due in January of ‘07. To hear the theme of the game in stereo, higher bitrate form, you can play it off one of the website’s flash players (Pursuit Theme).
You can expect to see more collabs between the two of us in the future!
Music- Pest Invasion [Preview]
by David Orr on Sep.05, 2006, under Music
I’ve been working on an orchestral piece that I designed to show the seemingly endless battle of people versus ants. You will hear a wide variety of moods displayed throughout the piece. On one side there is the very light and comical ants scurrying around, and on the other side the people are doing everything they can to get rid of the infestation. Writing a music that is intended to have such imagery can be very tricky, so I’m glad I chose to write a piece like this.
You can find the short preview in the Mp3 Player.
In other news, I will be getting a new computer desk that should hold more equipment and dual LCD monitors when the time comes. I’ll post a “before and after” picture once everything is settled. Unfortunately, one of the parts to the desk was defective so I will be waiting about a week before I have it completely set up.
Music- Stormy Seas
by David Orr on Aug.02, 2006, under Music
I’ve just finished a new orchestral piece. I intended to make it feel as though you are sailing through a big storm (the big cymbal crashes are waves crashing against the ship). And like in all of the great stories, there is a moment where everything looks good and hopeful, and then the worst arrives.
I decided to write it in 5/4, which gives a pushing feeling. I’m very happy with the piece, and am even happier with the East West Quantum Leap Symphony Orchestra Gold Samples!
To hear the piece, launch the mp3 player and select Stormy Seas.
New Flash Player for the Site!
by David Orr on Jul.15, 2006, under Music, News
I just downloaded and installed a very complex and full-featured flash mp3 player. I have a remix of one of my old pieces and a much more polished version of My Vision on the player, neither has been released publicly untill now. I’ll be adding more music as I get a chance. On the links box to the right of the page you can get a stand-alone player that will launch in a new window.
